Unable to stand the chicken in the garage (it smells, it pecks, it reminds him of work), George Sr. takes action. He drives Millicent to a nearby farm and trades her for... a bucket of fried chicken from the local diner.

The episode builds to the wedding of Pastor Rob’s brother, held at the church. Mary, George, Meemaw, and the kids all attend. During the reception, Mary pulls Pastor Rob aside, prepared to deliver a stern warning about his relationship with her mother.

But before she can, Meemaw, sensing Mary’s intention, steps in. In front of a punch bowl, she calmly informs Mary: “I broke up with him last week. He was too young. And he cried.”

In a rare moment of compromise, George drives Sheldon to a different farm, buys another live chicken (this one named Henrietta ), and helps him rebuild the experiment.
