


"Employee Markus," a cold, synthesized voice said. "You have completed Level 1 training 47 times. Primus has detected an anomaly. Upgrading permissions."
Markus adjusted his name tag— Markus, Produce Department —and stared at the computer screen in the break room. On it, a cheerful cartoon carrot with glasses was tapping a tiny chalkboard.
The screen snapped back to the cheerful carrot.
Today’s module:
"You believe you know freshness," the voice said. "But you do not know the origin ."
Markus’s mouth went dry. He thought of the tomatoes that never bruised. The avocados that ripened exactly on the day of purchase. The bread that stayed soft for two weeks.
"Click on the banana that is too green," instructed the carrot.
