“It’s not ironic anymore,” explains media analyst Yuki Tanaka. “For Gen Z in Japan and beyond, Nobisuke represents a dignity they feel is disappearing — the dignity of ordinary struggle. Instagram edits are usually aspirational or escapist. Nobisuke edits are grounding. They say: ‘Your tired father was once a dreamer too.’ ” Not everyone is moved.
