[upd] — Jackandjill Sarah Illustrates

Sarah’s illustrated version of the classic nursery rhyme breathes new life into the 18th-century verse. Using a mixed-media technique of watercolor and digital line art, she captures the humor and mild tragedy of Jack and Jill’s hilltop mishap.

In her series, Jack wears oversized boots; Jill carries a daisy. The hill is rendered in swirling greens, and the broken crown becomes a literal paper crown, now cracked. Sarah’s illustrations appeal to both children (bright colors, expressive faces) and adults (subtle nods to folklore and physics). jackandjill sarah illustrates
